Stephen Hunt, the creator of SF Crowsnest.com (and author, duh) has created a social networking platform for the ‘Nest. Hivemind, which bears a striking resemblance to Facebook (which I’ve preferred to My Space since joining) is a fully-interactive social network dedicated to SFF geeks (proudly stated, mind you). It has most of Facebook’s/My Space’s features, and although the advertising is a bit annoying (and slightly offensive if you’re the feminist type – as am I), it’s not any worse than the aforementioned sites. Perhaps becuase it’s a genre-specific site I was hoping for slightly better (and I’ll mention this to Stephen when I get the chance) but mostly ignorable.
It’s well worth checking out (highly recommended, even), and doesn’t take too long to create a profile (if you don’t mind making yet another one). Oh, and if you join – let us know by saying howdy.
