I just received the flyer for next year’s Boskone in the mail – can’t wait!!! For those not familiar with it, Boskone is a Boston-based sci-fi/fantasy convention held each February at the Westin Waterfront (and is highly recommended!!). The convention focuses on literature, art, music and gaming, and features a terrific dealer’s room (aka the ‘Huckester’s Room) – which we hope to be selling in again this year – and amazing art gallery/art show. This year’s Guest of Honor is novelist and poet Jo Walton (author of the 2004 World Fantasy Award winner Tooth and Claw which exclusively features dragons – I love dragons; you can read an excerpt here); the Official Artist is Stephan Martiniere; the Special Guest is Irene Gallo who is the art director for Tor, Forge and Starscape Books; and the Featured Filker is singer and songwriter Dr. Seti.
We’ll post here when we have word of whether or not we’ll be in the Huckster’s Room this year. My ‘other’ professional life (see the Off the Path Journal) gives me limited time to attend and sell at conventions, so at the moment I only try to make Readercon and Boskone. But July to February (never mind February to July) is much too long between conventions…
