Well, it was a very quiet holiday season at Withywindle. Between the lengthy power outage (12 days total), family losses, and lousy economy, sales were slow and (as a result) new inventory even slower. On a personal note, we didn’t do much holiday celebrating due to our family concerns, and I kept the store pretty quiet.
On the up side however, our family life is getting back to normal, and sales have picked up and are reflecting Januarys past. This is very surprising, given how sedate sales were in December – most (but not all) of which I attribute to the slow economy (grrr). As the majority of what we sell are used books, I would like to believe that the market for these should steady out somewhat. And I’m hoping that our increase in sales is a reflection of this.
I’m still hoping to sell at Boskone, which is right around the corner, and will post here whether or not we got a table in the Huckster’s room.
Stay warm!!
