When it rains, it pours. I get tons of book review requests in my inbox; many (most, it seems at times) aren’t for books in the sci-fi/fantasy/horror genre, so they go straight to the trash (the emails that is, not the books. I don’t usually get those in advance). Recently however, I received several requests for books that piqued my interest and I decided to go ahead and agree to do a few reviews. It felt like once I agreed to one, more kept coming along that I was equally interested in. And as if this bunch wasn’t enough (I have a separate full-time job in addition to running the bookstore so time for reading and reviewing is rather limited), I received two more requests from my ‘other’ profession as a naturalist. Looks like I’ve got a lot of reading to do over my holiday break this month…
I’ve gotten too far into my reading comfort zone lately, so I’m looking forward to stepping into my challenge zone, and reading some new authors. In no particular order, here are (most of) the books I hope to post reviews for soon: Rise Again by Ben Tripp – a zombie/apocalypse novel; The Vampire Hunters by Scott Baker; Haunted, edited by Jessie Marie Roberts – an anthology of ghost stories; and an anthology of (dark? fallen?) angel stories. I’d share the title but it totally escapes me, and I’m unable to find the inquiry email from the publicist. So it will be a surprise when it’s posted.
