Our family had planned a full moon celebration for Friday night this week, when no one had to go to school or work the next day (would be great to do Thursday night since we’re all off on Friday, but it doesn’t look like the weather is going cooperate).
But when I was putting our littlest to bed this evening, the light of the moon was shining through the window – and as I peered past the shade I saw the gardens and yard below illuminated by moonlight and I knew I had to be out there.
So I asked my husband and oldest son if they wanted to join me in an impromptu celebration tonight instead, but they declined (R. was already in his pajamas and not feeling outdoorsy, and Obo is recovering from a virus). Not to be deterred, I went out on my own after putting the boys to bed and quietly meditated in the moonlight. I gave thanks for all our blessings and thought about how fortunate I am to have my spiritual path illuminated. No spa or resort could have provided quite the peace and contentment that my short time outdoors this evening has. If you haven’t spent time outside after dark without artificial lighting recently (or at all…) I highly recommend it. Time spent in nature at night is always magical – even more so by the light of the full moon.
