The early blooming trees around us have started to leaf out, and the later blooming ones (mostly oaks and hickories) are in flower. But a few weeks ago, despite the warm temps, I was sorely missing the light greens of spring. The woods around our center were still brown and drab, and dead leaves rattled against bare branches in the wind. Â Then I saw this little fiddlehead that had popped out of the ground, and when I zeroed in on it to snap a picture, saw a few blades of grass poking through the leaf litter.
Spring, one small step at a time, is my favorite time of year. The soft shades of color that dot the landscape promise warm sun, long days and pleasant nights (to paraphrase Stephen King). Regardless of what the upcoming late spring and summer hold, everything seems possible now. Like the Earth, I am experiencing my own re-growth and change, and I look forward to what the upcoming months may reveal.
What hopes and promises does spring hold for you?
I love this picture! Spring always feels like a new beginning for me. After surviving another Maine winter and tax season (since my husband is a CPA), I feel like I’m ready to conquer the world again!
Whoo-hoo! Me too!
Gunny how nature can mirror what is going on in our one lives…
Absolutely!
